Our Vision Services

Our primary focus

While our experience and training qualify us to diagnose and treat all eye diseases and conditions, our main focus has evolved to treating cataracts and corneal problems such as dry eye and keratoconus and delivering today’s most advanced vision correction refractive surgery.

LASIK Eye Surgery and Refractive Surgery – We are expert at correcting vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism using the state-of-the-art excimer laser system. We can often eliminate the need to wear eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Eye Cataract Surgery – Every year, approximately 1.5 million people in the United States have eye cataract surgery. Aging, injury to the eye, previous eye surgery and intraocular inflammation can lead to cataracts. Excessive exposure to sunlight, steroids, medical problems like diabetes and high-salt diets are all risk factors for cataracts. We specialize in eye cataract surgery using the most advanced intraocular multifocal lenses to correct astigmatism and increase convenience by decreasing the need for reading glasses in some situations.

Glaucoma Treatment – Known as the silent threat, is commonly associated with slow, progressive loss of peripheral vision. Regular testing is important for identifying those at risk and monitoring treatment for glaucoma.

Diabetic Retinopathy – This is the leading cause of new blindness in adults. In most cases, vision loss from diabetes can be prevented or restored if caught in time. Patients with diabetes should be examined at least once a year.

Macular Degeneration – Age-related macular degeneration is a troubling disease usually found in people over age 50. In most cases, it affects both eyes and progresses very slowly. Age-related macular degeneration does not lead to blindness because peripheral vision is unaffected.

Optical Shop – For the convenience of our older and less mobile patients, we have a small onsite optical shop. Our opticians offer the full spectrum of eyeglasses and lenses and we continually change our inventory of eyeglasses, lenses and sunglasses to reflect the latest trends and styles. If you don’t see what you are looking for – just ask! We should be able to get it for you.

Facial Cosmetic Services – Get the fresh, confident look you want with eye plastic surgery, also known as oculoplastics. This includes upper and lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), treatment for eyelid cancers/reconstruction and Botox® and other injectables for a youthful, refreshed appearance.

Surgical Solutions – These include cataract surgery, refractive surgery for vision correction, vitrectomy for diabetic retinopathy, selective laser trabeculoplasty and iridotomy glaucoma treatment, plus intraocular lens replacement for cataracts, among others.

Non-Surgical Solutions – Includes eye drops, oral medications, photodynamic therapy and more.

TearLab – One of the latest devices in dry eye technology is the TearLab Osmolarity System. TearLab test will helps the doctors at Brazosport Eye to diagnose, treat, and monitor a patient’s dry eyes.

Our ambulatory surgery center offers greater convenience and considerably lower cost than hospital-based surgery. Brazosport Eye Institute offers the latest medical and surgical eye care using today’s state-of-the-art technology.
